Key features of the HitBall Ring

How to play HitBall:

Hit, kick, catch and throw the ball at the opponent(s) with your striking areas.

Protect your target areas with your striking areas.

Stay in the ring, on your side of the line.

Not allowed (fouls): Touching the ball (with striking areas) more than twice, entering the line area with any part of the body and interfering with the "string" (the elastic tether).

A "hit" is not valid following a foul by the opponent. Play on, or restart the point.

Only good, clean hits are acceptable. If there is sufficient doubt that discussion begins, no further discussion is required. The point is simply re-played.

Shout "Hit!" when the ball strikes (or even just touches) your target areas. This is your major responsibility as a player.

Except for the first service, the loser of the last point serves.

A player has 5 "lives" in the ring per game.

A singles match comprises three games. A score of 5-0 in the first game wins the match outright. A "whitewash".

A doubles match is a single game (to 5 hits per player).

Teams (5 players) have to keep two players in the ring until their last player. A match is played as a single game.

The ring is a circle of 3m radius, bisected by a 30cm wide line.

The elastic tether is fastened 3m above the centre of the circle.

Any firm, reasonably smooth surface is suitable for play.
