Current news: |
| Western Cape: |
|
Wayne (+27726492760 in SA: 0726492760) has been talking
to the W Cape Education Dept. about Hitball in their more violent
schools. It's really obvious that the cape gang culture starts
in schools, largely on account of a lack of healthy sport. The
ethics and attitudes that go with the snooty colonial tennis
and cricket are just not acceptable to these kids, and anyway,
they require huge space and expensive equipment. The MEC for
W Cape Education, Cameron Dugmore really wants this to happen.
W Cape educators
want to:
- Enable their kids to get fun, healthy exercise in a sport
with a strong ethic.
- Enable the grass-roots production of kit.
- Enable their schools to provide this for their kids for an
equipment cost of R100 or less per rig, and have teachers and
volunteers trained in the game, teaching the game and in producing
the kit in workshops that would take around 6 hours for 2 trainers
per school.
Players are very willing to coach, to share their experience
in this way, and anyone willing to sponsor Hitball in schools
as part of the "For The Sake of our Lives" campaign, please contact
Wayne. 0726492760.

A movie featuring the game and some star players
has been shot, is currently in editing, will be released likely
during 2007 and looks absolutely stunning from glimpses I've had
over the editor's shoulder. More information, email lionel.
